  1. PRESENTATION

a. Add Color

Chinese medicine dictates that the color of your food takes care of different vital organs. There are fives colors, RED, YELLOW, PURPLE, GREEN and WHITE which nourish the following.

RED — Heart

YELLOW — Spleen and Stomach

GREEN — Liver

PURPLE — Kidneys

WHITE — Lungs

Take notice if there’s an over or under-representation of a certain color in your diet and pay attention to what you are craving.

b. Decorate the plate

Presentation augments sensation. Food in cooking shows and five star restaurants LOOK GOOD. Because that makes you want to eat it and you enjoy it so much more. It may seem like it can actually taste better. So, treat yourself and pretend you are your own Michelin rated chef. Have fun with it!

2. BREATHE

Enjoy each bite.

Take a breath.

Taste some more.

Breathe again.

Really take in each taste as if you want to discover all the flavors your food has to offer. Go slow: it takes 20 minutes for your body to realize it is full. By taking this step, you will feel well-nourished and satisfied at the end of your meal, rather than getting overfilled and disgusted by food.

3. BE MINDFUL

You are what you eat. Literally. Whatever you consume constitutes your cells. And your cells regenerate every seven years.

Food is love. When you eat well you are physically telling you’re body that you love yourself. You are nourishing your digestive system and taking care of it.

As the fuel to our bodies, it sustains our energy throughout the day. For example, if you only eat greasy, fried or sugary foods, chances are you’ll be feeling drained after an hour. Don’t necessarily give up your guilty pleasures; but be aware of how much you eat them and maintain a steady variety.

Find what balance works for you.

I’ve found when I eat well, discover new tastes and experiment with flavors it’s usually a sign I have more energy and I’m happier.

You’re more able than you think. Take care of your body and that will help your mind. Health is within reach. Be active, eat well, you can do it!
